Allan Nilles

Allan Nilles erhielt bereits im Alter von drei Jahren seinen ersten Bratschenunterricht. Seinen musikalischen Weg setzte er an der renommierten Juilliard School in New York fort, die er 2011 mit einem Bachelor of Music abschloss. Noch während seines Studiums trat er mehrfach als Mitglied des Perlman Music Program mit dem Geiger Itzhak Perlman in Kammermusikkonzerten auf.

Erste Orchestererfahrung sammelte er im Tanglewood und im New World Symphony Orchestra, ehe er 2012 eine Stelle in der Bratschengruppe des San Diego Symphony Orchestra erhielt. Um sich künstlerisch weiterzuentwickeln, nahm Allan Nilles 2013 an der Lucerne Festival Academy teil und wurde im Januar 2015 Stipendiat der Orchester-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker. Nur einen Monat später gewann er das Probespiel für die Bratschenstelle des Orchesters, die er im Mai 2015 antrat. Er bezeichnet sich selbst als begeisterteren »Sonntagskomponisten« und komponiert kleine Stücke und Hip-Hop-Musik in seiner Freizeit.

Allan Nilles began his viola studies at the age of three. He continued his musical journey at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in 2011. While still a student, he performed several times with violinist Itzhak Perlman in chamber music concerts as a member of the Perlman Music Program.

He gained his first orchestral experience at Tanglewood and with the New World Symphony Orchestra before he joined the viola section of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra in 2012. To continue his artistic development, Allan Nilles took part in the Lucerne Festival Academy in 2013, and in January 2015 he became a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Only a month later, he successfully auditioned for a position in the viola section of the orchestra, which he took up in May 2015. He describes himself as a keen amateur composer and writes short pieces and hip-hop music in his free time.
