Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia

Die Ursprünge der multisäkularen Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia sind eng mit dem Chorgesang verbunden: In der zweiten Hälfte des 16. Jahrhunderts schlossen sich mehrere Kapellmeister und Chorsänger zusammen und wählten Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina zu ihrem Präsidenten, wodurch die Accademia gegründet wurde. Die Ziele der Institution haben sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte immer wieder geändert, aber die Förderung und Entwicklung der Musikkunst war stets die Inspiration für alle Aktivitäten. Der Chor der Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia tritt sowohl in der Winter- als auch in der Sommersaison der Accademia auf und begleitet das Orchester bei der Aufführung großer klassischer und moderner chorsymphonischer Werke. Zu den Höhepunkten der jüngeren Vergangenheit zählen Tourneen, welche die Santa-Cecilia-Ensembles gemeinsam mit Antonio Pappano 2006 in die Dresdner Semperoper, 2007, 2011 sowie 2013 zu den London Proms, 2011, 2013 und 2014 zu den Salzburger Festspielen sowie 2017 zum Enescu Festival führten. Nach einer Reihe von der Kritik gelobter Aufnahmen veröffentlichte Warner Classics 2023 eine neue Aufnahme von Giacomo Puccinis »Turandot« mit dem Orchestra e Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia unter der Leitung von Antonio Pappano.

The origins of the multi-secular Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia are closely linked to choral singing: in the second half of the 16th century, several Choirmasters and Choristers formed an association, electing as President Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, thus founding the Accademia. The objectives of the Institution have undergone continuous modification over the centuries, but the promotion and growth of the art of music have always been the inspiration guiding all its activities. The Chorus of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia appears in both the winter and summer seasons of the Accademia, joining the Orchestra for performances of the great classic and modern symphonic-choral works. Highlights among its more recent engagements include tours the Santa Cecilia ensembles made together with Sir Antonio Pappano to the Dresden Semperoper (2006), the London Proms (2007, 2011, 2013), the Salzburger Festspiele (2011, 2013, 2014) and the Enescu Festival (2017). After a series of acclaimed recordings, Warner Classics released a new recording of »Turandot« by Giacomo Puccini with the Orchestra e Coro dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano, in March 2023.
