Daniel Harding

Daniel Harding trat 2024 die Position des Musikdirektors des Orchesters und Chors der Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia an. Von 2007 bis 2025 war er Musikalischer und Künstlerischer Leiter des Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, von 2016 bis 2019 Musikdirektor des Orchestre de Paris und von 2007 bis 2017 Erster Gastdirigent des London Symphony Orchestra. Er trägt den Ehrentitel Conductor Laureate des Mahler Chamber Orchestra, mit dem er seit über 20 Jahren zusammenarbeitet. Im Jahr 2024 übernahm er zudem die Position des Musikdirektors der Youth Music Culture, The Greater Bay Area (YMCG).

Harding dirigiert regelmäßig führende Orchester, darunter die Wiener Philharmoniker, die Berliner Philharmoniker, das Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, das Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, die Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, das London Symphony Orchestra und die Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala sowie bedeutende nordamerikanische Orchester.

Daniel Hardings Beiträge zur Musik wurden vielfach gewürdigt. Er ist Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Mitglied der Königlichen Schwedischen Musikakademie und wurde 2021 in den New Year Honours mit dem Titel Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) ausgezeichnet.

Daniel Harding took up the Music Director position of the Orchestra and Chorus of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in 2024. He was Music and Artistic Director of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra from 2007–2025, Music Director of the Orchestre de Paris from 2016–2019 and Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra from 2007–2017. He is honoured with the lifetime title of Conductor Laureate of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, with whom he has worked for over 20 years. In 2024, he took up the position of Music Director of the Youth Music Culture, The Greater Bay Area (YMCG).

Harding regularly conducts leading orchestras including the Wiener Philharmoniker, Berliner Philharmoniker, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Dresden Staatskapelle, London Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, as well as major North American orchestras.

Daniel Harding’s contributions to music have been widely recognized. He is a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and was awarded the title Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2021 New Year Honours.
