Matthew White

Der junge amerikanische Tenor Matthew White ist ein regelmäßiger Favorit bei Wettbewerben und wurde bereits mit dem Großen Preis beim Internationalen Gerda Lissner Gesangswettbewerb, dem Ersten Preis beim Internationalen Deborah Voigt Gesangswettbewerb, dem Großen Preis beim Mario-Lanza-Gesangswettbewerb und dem Alfonso Cavaliere Preis ausgezeichnet.

Zu den Engagements der vergangenen Spielzeiten gehörten Rollen- und Hausdebüts wie Don José in »Carmen« an der Santa Fe Opera und der Arizona Opera, Rodolfo in »La bohème« an der Detroit Opera, dem Spoleto Festival USA und der Opera Naples sowie als Tenorsolist in Händels »Messiah« mit dem Florida Orchestra. Sein Europa-Debüt gab White mit Don José in »Carmen« an der Oper im Steinbruch in Sankt Margarethen im österreichischen Burgenland. Zudem sang er Alfredo in »La traviata« an der Houston Grand Opera und Pinkerton in »Madama Butterfly« an der Opéra de Montréal.

Matthew White gibt 2025 bei den Osterfestspielen Salzburg als Fürst Wassilij Golizyn sein Debüt.

The young American tenor Matthew White is a regular favourite at competitions and has already been awarded the Grand Prize at the International Gerda Lissner Singing Competition, First Prize at the International Deborah Voigt Singing Competition, the Grand Prize at the Mario Lanza Singing Competition and the Alfonso Cavaliere Prize.

Recent engagements have included role and house debuts such as Don José in »Carmen« at Santa Fe Opera and Arizona Opera, Rodolfo in »La bohème« at Detroit Opera, Spoleto Festival USA and Opera Naples as well as with the Florida Orchestra as tenor soloist in Handel’s »Messiah«. White made his European debut with Don José in »Carmen« at the Oper im Steinbruch in St. Margarethen in Burgenland, Austria. He also sang Alfredo in »La traviata« at the Houston Grand Opera and Pinkerton in »Madama Butterfly« at the Opéra de Montréal.

Matthew White makes his debut at the Salzburg Easter Festival 2025 as Prince Vasily Golitsyn.
