Der Rundfunkchor Berlin zählt zu den herausragenden Chören der Welt. Drei Grammy Awards belegen die Qualität seiner CD-Einspielungen. Sein breites Repertoire, ein flexibles, reich nuanciertes Klangbild, eine makellose Präzision und packende Ansprache machen den Profichor zum Partner bedeutender Orchester sowie Dirigentinnen und Dirigenten, darunter Kirill Petrenko, Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle und Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

2025 feierte der Chor sein 100-jähriges Bestehen und knüpfte mit »Flying Mozart« an seine transdisziplinären Produktionen an, die das klassische Konzertformat aufbrechen und international für Aufsehen sorgen. Dazu gehört die szenische Umsetzung des Brahms-Requiems als »human requiem« mit Gastspielen weltweit. Der Chor engagiert sich dafür, viele Menschen zum Singen zu bringen – etwa durch die Akademie und Schola sowie die Internationale Meisterklasse Berlin für Chordirigieren, mit der sich das Ensemble für den professionellen Nachwuchs einsetzt. Seit 2015 steht Gijs Leenaars als Chefdirigent an der Spitze des Ensembles.

In 2025, the choir celebrated its 100th anniversary and continued its series of transdisciplinary productions with »Flying Mozart«, which break open the traditional concert format and attract international attention. Among these is the scenic adaptation of Brahms’s Requiem as the »human requiem«, performed to great acclaim around the world. The choir is dedicated to inspiring as many people as possible to sing – through initiatives such as its Academy and Schola, as well as the Berlin International Master Class for Choral Conducting, with which the ensemble supports young professional talent. Since 2015, Gijs Leenaars has served as the choir’s Chief Conductor.
