Slavna Martinovic

Slavna Martinovic ist Kostüm- und Bühnenbildnerin sowie Theoretikerin zu Themen wie Kleidung und Subkultur. Ihre Arbeit in den bildenden Künsten ist ein symbiotischer Tanz zwischen Theater, Film und Mode und erstreckt sich über die Städte, in denen sie aufwuchs, sowie die, die sie später zu ihrem Zuhause machte: Hongkong, London und Los Angeles.

Ihre Entwürfe wurden in Modemagazinen wie »Vogue«, »Harper’s Bazaar«, »Vanity Fair«, »Another Magazine« und »Flaunt« vorgestellt und schmückten die Bühnen des Burgtheaters, des Deutschen Theaters, der Volksbühne Berlin, der Oper Göteborg, des Théâtre national de Chaillot in Paris, des Taichung Metropolitan Opera House, der Spiral Hall in Tokio, der Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, des Konzert Theater Bern und des Ballet Moskva. Ihre Arbeit erstreckt sich zudem auf Museums- und Galerieräume, darunter »The Costume at the Turn of the Century« 1995–2015 im Bakhrushin State Theater Museum in Moskau sowie das Frauenmuseum in Wiesbaden. Sie ist Doktorandin an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien.

»Das Rheingold« markiert ihre erste künstlerische Zusammenarbeit mit dem Regisseur Kirill Serebrennikov, mit dem sie auch die Verantwortung für das Kostümbild der Produktion teilt.

Slavna Martinovic wurde in Jugoslawien geboren und lebt in Berlin sowie Los Angeles.

Slavna Martinovic is a costume and set designer and theorist of dress and subculture. Her work in the visual arts is a symbiotic dance between theatre, film and fashion, and spans the cities where she grew up and those she later adopted: Hong Kong, London and Los Angeles.

Her designs have been featured in fashion magazines such as »Vogue«, »Harper’s Bazaar«, »Vanity Fair«, »Another Magazine« and »Flaunt«, and have graced the stages of the Burgtheater, Deutsches Theater, Volksbühne Berlin, Göteborg Opera, Théâtre national de Chaillot in Paris, Taichung Metropolitan Opera House, Spiral Hall in Tokyo, Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, Konzert Theater Bern and Ballet Moskva. Her work also extends into museum and gallery spaces, including »The Costume at the Turn of the Century« 1995–2015 at the Bakhrushin State Theatre Museum in Moscow and the Women’s Museum in Wiesbaden. She is a PhD candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

»Das Rheingold« inaugurates her first artistic collaboration with director Kirill Serebrennikov, with whom she also shares credit for the design of the production’s costumes.
