Sophie Junker

Die aus Belgien stammende Sopranistin Sophie Junker feierte 2010 ihren internationalen Durchbruch, als sie die Handel Singing Competition in London gewann. Zu ihrem Repertoire zählen auch Rollen wie Cunegunda in Leonardo Vincis »Gismondo«, Venere in Giovanni Legrenzis »Divisione del mondo« an der Opéra national du Rhin, Eurilla in Georg Friedrich Händels »Pastor fido« bei den Händel-Festspielen Halle sowie Atalanta in Händels »Serse« in einer Produktion des Künstlerkollektivs Clarac-Deloeuil an der Opéra de Rouen Normandie. Sie gab ihr Hausdebüt an der Staatsoper Berlin als Drusilla in Claudio Monteverdis »L´Incoronazione di Poppea« und sang die Titelrolle in Händels »Theodora«. Sophies geschmeidiger und funkelnder Sopran war auch als Clori in Francesco Cavallis »Egisto« an der Königlichen Oper von Versailles und als Asteria in Händels »Tamerlano« mit dem Moskauer Kammerorchester in der Moskauer Tchaikovsky Concert Hall zu hören. 2022 debütierte sie als Cleopatra in Händels »Giulio Cesare« unter der Leitung von George Petrou an der niederländischen Reisopera und bei den Händel-Festspielen Göttingen sowie als Atilia in Cavallis »Eliogabalo«, inszeniert von Calixto Bieito an der Oper Zürich.

Sophie's repertoire includes roles such as Cunegunda in Leonardo Vinci's »Gismondo«, Venere in Giovanni Legrenzi's »Divisione del mondo« at Opéra national du Rhin, Eurilla in Georg Friedrich Handel's »Pastor fido« at Händel-Festspiele in Halle as well as Atalanta in Handel's »Serse« in a Clarac & Deloeuils production at Opéra de Rouen Normandie. She also made her debut at the Staatsoper Berlin as Drusilla in Claudio Monteverdi´s »L'incoronazione di Poppea« and sang the title role in Händel's »Theodora«. Sophie’s lithe and sparkling soprano has also been heard as Clori in Francesco Cavalli’s »Egisto« at the Royal Opera of Versailles and Asteria in Handel's »Tamerlano« with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Moscow. In 2022, she made her debut as Cleopatra in »Giulio Cesare« under the direction of George Petrou at the netherlands Reisopera and the Händel Festival in Göttingen and as Atilia in Cavalli's »Eliogabalo«, directed by Calixto Bieito at Zurich Opera.
