Bruno Delepelaire

Bruno Delepelaire wurde in Paris geboren und erhielt seine musikalische Ausbildung am Conservatoire de Paris sowie an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Seit November 2013 ist er Erster Solocellist der Berliner Philharmoniker, dem Orchester ist er bereits seit seiner Zeit als Stipendiat der Karajan-Akademie eng verbunden.

Nur wenige Monate nach seiner Ernennung spielte Bruno Delepelaire mit den Berliner Philharmonikern den Solocello-Part in Richard Strauss’ »Don Quixote«. Seitdem trat er mehrfach als Solist mit dem Orchester auf – mit Werken wie Joseph Haydns Cellokonzert Nr. 2 und John Williams’ Elegy for Cello and Orchestra.

Der Cellist, der auch häufig als Gast bei anderen Orchestern auftritt, wurde sowohl als Solist als auch mit seinem Streichquartett Quatuor Cavatine mit renommierten Preisen ausgezeichnet. 2023 erhielt Delepelaire den Opus Klassik als Nachwuchskünstler des Jahres. Er tritt auch als Kammermusiker mit der Gruppe Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker auf. Er spielt auf einem Violoncello des venezianischen Geigenbauers Matteo Goffriller, das ihm die Karolina Blaberg Stiftung zur Verfügung stellt.

Bruno Delepelaire was born in Paris and received his musical training at the Conservatoire de Paris and the Berlin University of the Arts. Since November 2013, he has served as Principal Cellist of the Berliner Philharmoniker, an orchestra with which he has been closely connected since his time as a scholarship holder of the Karajan Academy.

Only a few months after his appointment, Bruno Delepelaire performed the solo cello part in Richard Strauss’s »Don Quixote« with the Berliner Philharmoniker. He has since appeared several times as a soloist with the orchestra, performing works such as Joseph Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 2 and John Williams’s Elegy for Cello and Orchestra.

A frequent guest with other leading orchestras, Delepelaire has been awarded numerous prizes both as a soloist and with his string quartet, the Quatuor Cavatine. In 2023, Delepelaire received the Opus Klassik award for »Young Talent of the Year«. He also performs as a chamber musician with The 12 Cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker. He plays a cello made by the Venetian luthier Matteo Goffriller, loaned to him by the Karolina Blaberg Foundation.
