Heike Schuppelius

Heike Schuppelius studierte Architektur und Bühnenbild an der Universität der Künste, Berlin und an der Architectural Association sowie dem Central Saint Martins College in London. Arbeitsstipendien und Auszeichnungen führten sie wiederholt ins Ausland unter anderem nach Marseille, New York, Kairo und Rom. Für ihre Zusammenarbeit mit der New Yorker Theatergruppe Elevator Repair Service erhielt sie 2003 den Bessie-Award in der Kategorie Visual Design und 2004 den Rom-Preis der Villa Massimo. Ihre aktuellen Installationen und Bühnenbilder wurden unter anderem beim Athens Festival, in der Jahrhunderthalle Bochum, am Maxim Gorki Theater, im Martin Gropius Bau und im Naturkundemuseum Berlin, an den Münchner Kammerspielen und in der Pinakothek der Moderne München sowie in der Baumwollspinnerei Leipzig gezeigt. Eine kontinuierliche Zusammenarbeit verbindet sie mit der Choreographin Sasha Waltz, der Regisseurin Yael Ronen und dem bildenden Künstler Omer Fast. Seit 2012 ist sie Professorin für Bühnenbild/Szenischer Raum und lehrt derzeit an der Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach.

Heike Schuppelius studied architecture and stage design at the Berlin University of the Arts and at the Architectural Association and Central Saint Martins College in London. Working scholarships and awards have repeatedly taken her abroad, including to Marseille, New York, Cairo and Rome. For her collaboration with the New York theatre group Elevator Repair Service, she received the Bessie Award in the Visual Design category in 2003 and the Rome Prize of the Villa Massimo in 2004. Her current installations and stage designs have been shown at the Athens Festival, Jahrhunderthalle Bochum, Maxim Gorki Theater, Martin Gropius Bau and the Natural History Museum in Berlin, Münchner Kammerspiele and Pinakothek der Moderne München and the Baumwollspinnerei Leipzig among others. She has an ongoing collaboration with choreographer Sasha Waltz, director Yael Ronen and visual artist Omer Fast, among others. Since 2012, she has been Professor of Stage Design/Scenic Space and currently teaches at Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach.
