Howard Arman

Howard Arman ließ sich am Trinity College of Music in London ausbilden, bevor er zunächst mit renommierten englischen Ensembles kooperierte und schon bald seinen Wirkungskreis auf ganz Europa ausweitete. In Deutschland arbeitete er mit den Chören des NDR, des SWR und des RIAS Berlin zusammen. Längerfristige künstlerische Bindungen ging er von 1983 bis 2000 beim Salzburger Bachchor sowie von 1998 bis 2013 als Künstlerischer Leiter des MDR Rundfunkchores Leipzig ein. Neben seinem internationalen Wirken als Chor- und Orchesterdirigent leitete er vielbeachtete Produktionen an Opernhäusern in Deutschland, Österreich, Italien und in der Schweiz. Von 2011 bis 2016 war er Musikdirektor des Luzerner Theaters, wo er »Le nozze di Figaro«, »Carmen« oder das Tanztheater »Metamorphosen« (mit eigenen Kompositionen) leitete. In der Zeit als Künstlerischer Leiter des BR-Chores gestaltete er viele CD-Aufnahmen, darunter Mozarts Requiem und Dvořáks »Stabat mater«.

Howard Arman trained at Trinity College of Music in London before initially cooperating with renowned English ensembles and soon expanding his sphere of activity throughout Europe. In Germany he worked with the choirs of the NDR, the SWR and the RIAS Berlin. He entered into longer-term artistic commitments with the Salzburg Bach Choir from 1983 to 2000 and as Artistic Director of the MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig from 1998 to 2013. In addition to his international activities as a choral and orchestral conductor, he has led highly acclaimed productions at opera houses in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. From 2011 to 2016 he was Music Director of the Lucerne Theatre, where he conducted productions including »Le nozze di Figaro«, »Carmen« and the dance theatre »Metamorphosen« (with his own compositions). During his time as Artistic Director of the BR Choir, he made many CD recordings, including Mozart’s Requiem and Dvořák’s »Stabat mater«.
