Jan Rozehnal

Nach seinem Flötenstudium am Konservatorium im tschechischen Kroměříž studierte Rozehnal Orchesterleitung an der Janáček-Akademie für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Brünn. Seine berufliche Laufbahn begann er als Dirigent des Südböhmischen Theaters in České Budějovice. In den Jahren 1990 bis 2003 war er Chorleiter des Slowakischen Philharmonischen Chors und besuchte mit diesem Ensemble zahlreiche nationale und internationale Bühnen. Während seiner Zeit in der Slowakei gründete er den Chor Camerata Bratislava, dessen Domäne die historisch informierte Aufführung alter Musik ist. Das Ensemble wurde mit dem Preis der französischen Revue »Diapason d’or« und dem Preis des Ministerpräsidenten der Slowakischen Republik ausgezeichnet. Im Jahr 2004 zog Rozehnal nach Prag, wo er bis 2008 Chorleiter des Gemischten Chors Kühn und des Prager Philharmonischen Chors war.

Von 2008 bis 2023 war er Chorleiter und Dirigent an den deutschen Musiktheatern in Koblenz, Frankfurt und Halberstadt. Seit der Saison 2023/24 ist Jan Rozehnal wieder Chorleiter des Slowakischen Philharmonischen Chors.

After studying flute at the conservatory in Kroměříž, Rozehnal studied orchestral conducting at Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. He began his professional career as a conductor at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice. From 1990 to 2003, he was the choirmaster of the Slovak Philharmonic Choir and visited numerous national and international stages with this ensemble. During his time in Slovakia, he founded the choir Camerata Bratislava, whose domain is the historically informed performance of early music. The ensemble was awarded the French revue »Diapason d’or« prize and the prize of the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic. In 2004 Jan Rozehnal moved to Prague, where he was choirmaster of the Kühn Mixed Choir and the Prague Philharmonic Choir until 2008.

Since 2008 to 2023, he has been a choirmaster and conductor at the German music theatres in Koblenz, Frankfurt and Halberstadt. Since the 2023/24 season, Jan Rozehnal is once again the choirmaster of the Slovak Philharmonic Choir.
