Sergey Kucher

Sergey Kucher absolvierte sein Studium der Lichtgestaltung am Polytechnischen Institut in Minsk, Belarus. Danach war er fünfzehn Jahre lang als Lichtdesigner am Palace of the Republic tätig, dem damals führenden Konzertsaal der Stadt.

2016 wechselte er als Lichtdesigner an das Gogol Center in Moskau, wo er mit Regisseur:innen wie Kirill Serebrennikov, Vladislav Nastavshev und Evgeny Kulagin zusammenarbeitete.
In jüngerer Zeit setzte er seine Zusammenarbeit mit Kirill Serebrennikov fort und realisierte Produktionen wie »Der schwarze Mönch«, »Barocco«, »Legende« und »The Wij« am Thalia Theater Hamburg sowie »Decamerone« am Deutschen Theater Berlin.

Zu seinen weiteren Arbeiten zählen »Boris Godunov« an der Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam und »Der Schneesturm« am D’haus Düsseldorf.
Er gestaltete Licht für bedeutende europäische Festivals und Theater, darunter die Salzburger Festspiele, das Festival von Avignon, das Thalia Theater Hamburg und das Deutsche Theater Berlin.

Seine künstlerische Handschrift zeichnet sich durch präzise architektonische Lichtkomposition, atmosphärisches visuelles Erzählen und eine enge Verbindung von Licht, Szenografie und Bewegung aus.

Sergey Kucher studied lighting design at the Polytechnic Institute in Minsk, Belarus. He then spent fifteen years as the resident lighting designer at the Palace of the Republic, the leading concert venue of the city at the time.

In 2016, he joined the Gogol Center in Moscow, collaborating with directors such as Kirill Serebrennikov, Vladislav Nastavshev and Evgeny Kulagin.
In recent years, he has continued his work with Kirill Serebrennikov on productions including »Der schwarze Mönch«, »Barocco«, »Legende« and »The Wij« at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, as well as »Decamerone« at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
