Daniel Okulitch

Der kanadische Bassbariton Daniel Okulitch ist für seine souveräne Bühnenpräsenz und beeindruckende stimmliche Vielseitigkeit bekannt und tritt in großen Opernhäusern und mit Orchestern auf der ganzen Welt auf. Kürzlich kehrte Okulitch an die Opéra de Montréal zurück, um die Rolle des Axel Oxenstierna in der Weltpremiere von Julien Bilodeau und Michel Marc Bouchards »La Reine-garçon« zu debütieren. In dieser Saison hat er die Rolle in Toronto wieder aufgenommen und damit sein Debüt bei der Canadian Opera Company im Four Seasons Centre gegeben.

Außerdem kehrt er in dieser Saison in die Rolle des Protector in George Benjamins »Written on Skin« zurück, mit der er an der Deutschen Oper Berlin debütiert, und singt die Rolle des Johan in der Weltpremiere von Paola Prestinis »Silent Light« am National Sawdust in New York. Im Konzert wird Okulitch Händels »Messias« mit dem Seattle Symphony Orchestra wiederaufführen und singt Brahms’ »Ein deutsches Requiem« mit dem Malmö Symphony Orchestra.

Okulitch hat zahlreiche Ehrungen und Preise erhalten, darunter den ersten Preis der George London Foundation, der Joyce Dutka Arts Foundation und der Sullivan Foundation.

Canadian bass-baritone Daniel Okulitch is known for his commanding stage presence and impressive vocal versatility, performing in major opera houses and with orchestras around the world. Okulitch recently returned to Opéra de Montréal to debut the role of Axel Oxenstierna in the world premiere of Julien Bilodeau and Michel Marc Bouchard’s »La Reine-garçon«. He reprised the role this season in Toronto, marking his debut with the Canadian Opera Company at the Four Seasons Centre.

Elsewhere this season, he returns to the role of The Protector in George Benjamin’s »Written on Skin«, with which he makes his debut with the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and sings the role of Johan in the world premiere of Paola Prestini’s »Silent Light« at National Sawdust in New York. In concert, Okulitch will reprise Handel’s »Messiah« with Seattle Symphony Orchestra and sings Brahms’s »Ein deutsches Requiem« with Malmö Symphony Orchestra.

Okulitch has received numerous honours and awards, including first prize from the George London Foundation, the Joyce Dutka Arts Foundation and the Sullivan Foundation.
