Planet [wanderer] - A choreography of transformation

The encounter between the visual artist Kohei Nawa and the choreographer Damien Jalet was artistic love at first sight. What brought them together is most certainly this alchemy of matter that can be found in the moving sculptures as well as in the gestures of one another.

Planet [wanderer] is set in the mythological »middle earth of the reeds« (ashihara-no-nakatsukuni) - an image for our own ever-changing world. A landscape of black sand, stardust or meteorite-like rock is transformed here by the presence of bodies.

Eight dancers - eight bodies, eight planets - move through a space that appears dry and unstable, as if it were the remnants of a dried-up sea or a desert on Mars. And yet life seems possible here: flowers grow, beings emerge and pass away.

Between choreography and visual experimentation, Planet [wanderer] exposes the bodies to different materials. The term »planet« comes from the Greek planētēs - »the wanderer«, creating a physical and dreamlike approach to the relationship between man and earth - intense, fragile and immediately perceptible.
