Jakub Hrůša

Der im tschechischen Brünn geborene Jakub Hrůša studierte Dirigieren an der Akademie der darstellenden Künste in Prag. Er ist ein häufiger Gast bei vielen der größten Orchester der Welt wie etwa bei den Wiener Philharmonikern, den Berliner Philharmonikern, dem Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, dem Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, dem Orchestre de Paris, dem Chigaco Symphony Orchestra, dem New York Philharmonic, dem Boston Symphony Orchestra, dem Cleveland Orchestra, dem Londoner Philharmonia Orchestra und dem NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokio. Als Operndirigent leitete er Produktionen für die Salzburger Festspiele, die Wiener Staatsoper, das Royal Opera House Covent Garden und die Opéra national de Paris. Jakub Hrůša ist Chefdirigent der Bamberger Symphoniker, designierter Musikdirektor der Royal Opera Covent Garden (Musikdirektor ab 2025), Erster Gastdirigent der Tschechischen Philharmonie und Erster Gastdirigent des Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Als Schallplattenkünstler wurde er mit zahlreichen Preisen und Nominierungen für seine Diskographie gewürdigt. 2021 erhielt er für seine Einspielung von Gustav Mahlers 4. Symphonie den Jahrespreis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. Gemeinsam mit den Bamberger Symphonikern wurde sowohl 2022 als auch 2023 mit dem ICMA-Preis für symphonische Musik für seine Aufnahmen von Rotts Symphonie Nr. 1 und Bruckners Symphonie Nr. 4 ausgezeichnet. 2023 ernannte ihn Opus Klassik zum »Dirigenten des Jahres« und für seine Arbeit mit den Bamberger Symphonikern wurde er mit dem Bayerischen Staatspreis geehrt. Anfang des Jahres wurden Jakub Hrůša und die Wiener Philharmoniker für die Aufnahme der Salzburger Festspielproduktion von Leoš Janáčeks Oper »Káťa Kabanová« in der Kategorie Video/Oper mit dem ICMA-Preis 2024 ausgezeichnet. Hrůša war außerdem in den Kategorien Konzert und Symphonische Musik nominiert.

Born in Brno in the Czech Republic, Jakub Hrůša studied conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He is a frequent guest conductor with many of the world's greatest orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Chigaco Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the London Philharmonia Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo. As an opera conductor, he has conducted productions for the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Opéra national de Paris. Jakub Hrůša is Chief Conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Music Director Designate of the Royal Opera Covent Garden (Music Director from 2025), Principal Guest Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. As a recording artist, he has been honoured with numerous awards and nominations for his discography. In 2021, he received the German Record Critics' Award for his recording of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 4. Together with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, he was honoured with the ICMA Prize for Symphonic Music in both 2022 and 2023 for his recordings of Rott's Symphony No. 1 and Bruckner's Symphony No. 4. In 2023, Opus Klassik named him »Conductor of the Year« and he was honoured with the Bavarian State Prize for his work with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. Earlier this year, Jakub Hrůša and the Vienna Philharmonic were honoured with the 2024 ICMA Award in the category Video/Opera for their recording of the Salzburg Festival production of Leoš Janáček's opera »Káťa Kabanová«. Hrůša was also nominated in the categories Concertos and Symphonic Work.
