Róisín Whelan
Biography
Choreographer and dancer Róisín holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts and a Master of Performance from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Before founding her own company, R.W.D, she performed with the Black Box Dance Company in Denmark, Matthew Bourne's award-winning New Adventures Company and at the Bregenz Festival. Her most recent choreographic works include »The Glasshouse« commissioned by Ballet Ireland, »The Parting Glass« commissioned by the University of Malta and »The Tipsy Flamingo« commissioned by Valencia Dancing Forward. In the opera world, Róisín has worked as an assistant to choreographer Lucy Burget for the last two years, for example for »Hansel and Gretel« at the Royal Opera House and »Madame Butterfly« at the Bregenz Festival.
