Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha gewann den Song Prize bei der BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition 2021 und ist derzeit BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist. In der vergangenen Saison wurde die Südafrikanerin am Royal Opera House Covent Garden als Liù in »Turandot«, am Theater Bern als Mathilde in »Guillaume Tell« und in der Titelrolle von »Iphigénie en Tauride« von Publikum und Kritik gefeiert. Auf der Konzertbühne gab Rangwanasha ihr US-Debüt mit dem Washington National Symphony Orchestra in Samuel Barbers »Knoxville: Summer of 1915«, das sie mit dem Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra erneut aufführte, und sang Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdys Symphonie Nr. 2 mit der Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Anschließend gab sie ihr Debüt beim Edinburgh Festival mit Michael Tippetts »A Child of Our Time« zusammen mit dem Royal Scottish National Orchestra und feierte ihre Rückkehr zu den BBC Proms mit den »Vier letzten Liedern« von Richard Strauss gemeinsam mit dem britischen National Youth Orchestra. In dieser Saison gab sie bereits ihr Debüt mit dem London Symphony Orchestra und an der Hamburgischen Staatsoper als Liù, eine Rolle, die sie auch auch mit dem Royal Opera House Covent Garden auf einer Tournee in Japan singen wird. Es folgen Konzerte mit dem Chicago Symphony Orchestra sowie an der Washington National Opera.

Last season, the South African received critical acclaim for her return to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Liù in »Turandot« and to Theater Bern as Mathilde in »Guillaume Tell« and in the title role of »Iphigénie en Tauride«. On the concert stage, Rangwanasha made her US debut with the Washington National Symphony Orchestra in Samuel Barber's »Knoxville: Summer of 1915«, performing the work again with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. The soprano also sang Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2 with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. In the same year, she gave her debut at the Edinburgh Festival performing Michael Tippett's »A Child of Our Time« with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and returned to the BBC Proms to perform Strauss's »Vier letzte Lieder« with the National Youth Orchestra. This season she will make debuts with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, at the Washington National Opera and the Hamburg State Opera as Liù, a role she will also perform with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden on tour in Japan.
