SeokJong Baeks von der Kritik gefeierte Darstellung des Samson in Richard Jones’ neuer Inszenierung von Camille Saint-Saëns’ »Samson et Dalila« für das Royal Ballet and Opera, Covent Garden war nicht nur ein Haus- und Rollendebüt, sondern auch sein professionelles Debüt als Tenor, nachdem er während der Corona-Pandemie vom Bariton zum Tenor gewechselt war. Als Bariton war er Adler-Stipendiat und Mitglied des Merola-Programms an der San Francisco Opera sowie ehemaliger Resident Artist der Lyric Opera of Kansas und Absolvent der Manhattan School of Music.

Zu seinen Engagements für 2024/25 gehören Cavaradossi in »Tosca« an der New Yorker Metropolitan Opera, Radamès in »Aida« an der Deutschen Oper Berlin, sein Rollendebüt als Rodolfo in »La bohème« an der Arizona Opera und eine Rückkehr an das Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florenz.

Zu den jüngsten Höhepunkten seiner Karriere zählen Rollendebüts als Turiddu in »Cavalleria rusticana« und Radamès am für das Royal Ballet and Opera, Covent Garden sowie Cavaradossi an der Arizona Opera. SeokJong Baek wird 2025 bei den Osterfestspielen sein Salzburg-Debüt geben.

SeokJong Baek’s critically acclaimed portrayal of Samson in Richard Jones’s new production of Camille Saint-Saëns’s »Samson et Dalila« for the Royal Ballet and Opera, Covent Garden was not only a house and role debut, but also his professional debut as a tenor after switching from baritone to tenor during the coronavirus lockdown. As a baritone, he was an Adler Fellow and member of the Merola Programme at the San Francisco Opera, as well as a former Resident Artist of the Lyric Opera of Kansas and a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music.

His engagements for 2024/25 include Cavaradossi in »Tosca« for the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Radamès in »Aida« for Deutsche Oper Berlin, his role debut as Rodolfo in »La bohème« for Arizona Opera and a return to Teatro del Maggio Musicale, Florence.

Recent highlights of his career include role debuts as Turiddu in »Cavalleria rusticana« and Radamès for the Royal Ballet and Opera, Covent Garden as well as Cavaradossi at Arizona Opera. SeokJong Baek will make his Salzburg debut at the 2025 Salzburg Easter Festival.
