Biographie
Russian-born pianist, arranger and composer Daniil Orlov completed his musical training at the Moscow State Conservatory and in the Young Artists Opera Programme at the Bolshoi Theatre. He also took part in the opera studio training programme at the Komische Oper Berlin.
Since 2018, he has enjoyed a close artistic collaboration with director Kirill Serebrennikov. As an opera dramaturge, Orlov has worked on several renowned productions, including »Der Freischütz« and »Boris Godunov« at the Dutch National Opera and Ballet, »Le nozze di Figaro« and »Don Giovanni/Requiem« at the Komische Oper Berlin, »Lohengrin« at the Opéra Bastille in Paris as well as »Das Leben mit einem Idioten« at the Zurich Opera House.
In addition to his dramaturgical work, Orlov is also active as a composer and musical director. He created the music for two remarkable theatre works by Serebrennikov at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg: »Barocco. A musical manifesto« and »Legend«, which was also performed at the Ruhrtriennale.
In addition, he composed the film music for Kirill Serebrennikov's feature film »Tchaikovsky’s Wife«, which premiered in the main programme of the Cannes International Film Festival in 2022.
Since 2022 Daniil Orlov has been living and working in Germany.
