Jonathan Kelly

Jonathan Kelly studierte an der Royal Academy of Music in London sowie am Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in Paris. Nach Abschluss seiner Ausbildung wurde er Solooboist des City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, dem er zehn Jahre lang angehörte, und trat zudem als Gastsolist mit dem Chamber Orchestra of Europe auf. 2003 erfüllte sich sein Jugendtraum mit der Berufung zum Solooboisten der Berliner Philharmoniker, eine Position, die er bis heute innehat.

Als international gefragter Solist, Kammermusiker und Pädagoge konzertiert Kelly weltweit, gibt Meisterkurse und tritt regelmäßig mit Orchesterkolleginnen und -kollegen, mit den Bläsern der Berliner Philharmoniker, im Ensemble Wien – Berlin sowie mit den Berliner Barock Solisten auf. Viele Jahre unterrichtete er an der Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin und an der Karajan-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker. Er ist Fellow der Royal Academy of Music London, wirkt dort als Gastprofessor und ist regelmäßiger Gast beim Zermatt Music Festival sowie beim Pacific Music Festival in Japan.

Jonathan Kelly studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in Paris. After completing his studies, he was appointed principal oboe of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, a position he held for ten years, and also appeared as a guest soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. In 2003, a lifelong ambition was fulfilled when he became principal oboe of the Berliner Philharmoniker, a position he continues to hold.

An internationally sought-after soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue, Kelly performs worldwide, gives masterclasses and regularly appears with orchestral colleagues, the Berlin Philharmonic Winds, the Ensemble Wien-Berlin and the Berliner Barock Solisten. He taught for many years at the »Hanns Eisler« School of Music in Berlin and at the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Kelly is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London, serves there as a guest professor, and is a regular guest at the Zermatt Music Festival and the Pacific Music Festival in Japan.
