Justus Barleben

Justus Barleben ist seit 2020 Assistent des Chefdirigenten beim Rundfunkchor Berlin. In dieser Position verantwortete er zahlreiche Choreinstudierungen, dirigierte den Rundfunkchor Berlin und das Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin beim Mitsingkonzert in der Philharmonie und übernahm die musikalische Leitung des transdisziplinären Projekts »Time Travellers«. Er ist regelmäßiger Gastdirigent verschiedener Rundfunkchöre und namhafter Festivals mit einem breiten Repertoire von der Alten Musik bis hin zu zeitgenössischen Werken.

In der Saison 2025/26 dirigiert er den Rundfunkchor Berlin im Weihnachtskonzert im Berliner Dom und übernimmt darüber hinaus die Einstudierung der zeitgenössischen Komposition von Gabriela Ortiz’ »Revolución diamantina«. Zudem ist er beim NDR Vokalensemble und dem MDR Rundfunkchor zu Gast. Der an den Musikhochschulen Hannover und Detmold ausgebildete Chordirigent erhielt 2019 den zweiten Preis und gewann den Publikumspreis beim International Competition for Young Conductors in Paris. Er ist Gründungsmitglied des preisgekrönten Voktett Hannover.

Since 2020, Justus Barleben has served as Assistant to the Chief Conductor of the Rundfunkchor Berlin. In this position, he has been responsible for numerous chorus preparations, conducted the Rundfunkchor Berlin and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin at the sing-along concert in the Philharmonie and took on the musical direction of the transdisciplinary project »Time Travellers«. He is a regular guest conductor with various radio choirs and at renowned festivals, with a wide-ranging repertoire spanning from Early music to contemporary works.

In the 2025/26 season, he will conduct the Rundfunkchor Berlin in its traditional Christmas concert at Berlin Cathedral and prepare Gabriela Ortiz’s contemporary composition »Revolución diamantina«. He will also return as guest conductor to the NDR Vokalensemble and the MDR Rundfunkchor. Trained at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media and the Detmold University of Music, he won the Second Prize and Audience Prize at the International Competition for Young Conductors in Paris in 2019. He is a founding member of the award-winning vocal ensemble Voktett Hannover.
