Yajie Zhang

Die chinesische Mezzosopranistin Yajie Zhang ist Preisträgerin zahlreicher internationaler Wettbewerbe. 2017 wurde sie als jüngste Gewinnerin des International Vocal Competition ’s-Hertogenbosch ausgezeichnet. Sie gehörte dem Opernstudio der Bayerischen Staatsoper an und ist anschließend von 2022 bis 2024 Ensemblemitglied an der Oper Leipzig gewesen.

Gastengagements führen sie u. a. an die Opéra national de Paris, der Bayerischen Staatsoper, dem Opernhaus Zürich, dem Wiener Musikverein, dem Concertgebouw Amsterdam sowie das Konzerthaus Berlin und an die Berliner Philharmonie. Als Konzert- und Liedsängerin ist sie in Europa, Nordamerika und Asien zu erleben. Ihr Repertoire umfasst Partien wie Cherubino in »Le nozze di Figaro«, Angelina in »La Cenerentola«, Hänsel in »Hänsel und Gretel«, Nicklausse/Die Muse in »Hoffmanns Erzählungen«, Carmen, sowie Suzuki in »Madama Butterfly«.

In der Spielzeit 2025/26 ist sie als Maddalena in »Rigoletto« und Orlofsky in »Die Fledermaus« am Opernhaus Zürich, als Dryade in »Ariadne auf Naxos« an der Bayerischen Staatsoper sowie als Adalgisa in »Norma« an der National Centre for the Performing Arts Beijing zu erleben.

2026 gibt sie ihr Debüt bei den Osterfestspielen Salzburg.

The Chinese mezzo-soprano Yajie Zhang is a prizewinner of numerous international competitions. In 2017, she became the youngest winner of the International Vocal Competition ’s-Hertogenbosch. She was a member of the Opera Studio of the Bayerischen Staatsoper and subsequently joined the ensemble of Oper Leipzig from 2022 to 2024.

Guest engagements have taken her, among others, to the Opéra national de Paris, the Bayerischen Staatsoper, the Opernhaus Zürich, the Wiener Musikverein, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus Berlin, and the Berliner Philharmonie. As a concert and recital singer, she performs throughout Europe, North America and Asia. Her repertoire includes roles such as Cherubino in »Le nozze di Figaro«, Angelina in »La Cenerentola«, Hänsel in »Hänsel und Gretel«, Nicklausse/The Muse in »Hoffmanns Erzählungen«, Carmen, and Suzuki in »Madama Butterfly«.
